Catuaba (Animopaegma mirandum) is hardwood tree that is native to the Amazon rainforest. The bark of the Catuaba tree has been used for centuries by many rainforest tribes and it is still popularly used by Brazilian couples today.
It is thought that Catuaba was first discovered by the Tupi Indians – who call it 'The Tree of Love’ or the ‘Tree of Togetherness’ – and have composed many songs in praise of its properties. In Brazil it’s use as a pro-sexual herb stretches back for generations – and in the state of Minas a local proverb states that “Until a father reaches 60, the son is his; after that, the son is Catuaba’s!”
Catuaba is still one of South America’s most famous herbs, and is used as a tonic by couples, and as a treatment for male sexual problems. It is also frequently used for the treatment of nervous disorders.
