Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) trees are believed to be the oldest species of tree on earth, and fossils reveal that they were widespread during the time of the dinosaurs 250 million years ago.
In China the trees are planted at the entrance to Buddhist shrines. They are very long-lived, with some examples believed to be more than 2,500 years old!
The leaves of this beautiful tree contain antioxidant actives called Ginkgoflavones, and Terpenoids (Ginkgolides, Bilobalides) which can support circulation, and may protect cells.
Ginkgo is reputed to reduce memory loss, support circulation and is a source of antioxidants. As such it is generally regarded as a supplement for anyone over the age of 50. This high strength extract is standardised to contain 24% Ginkgoflavones and 6% Terpenoids.
